OUR STORY
J. Clemonts, Jr. grew up as a young black male to a divorced parents who lived in trailers and low-income apartments his whole childhood. Despite the negative environment he grew up in, his parents made sure to pour positivity into his life. "You can be anything you want to be," they'd say. "You are going to do everything you put your mind to." He knew that his only shot at the life he wanted was outside of the hoods that he grew up in. While his friends played in the streets, he completed his homework and practiced sports. When they took jobs selling drugs, he worked for the local Boys & Girls Club as a youth leader. He saw his older friends graduated from school and go to jail; he knew he could get out of the hood by going to college.
When it came time to pay for college, However, he had the same two choices many of his friends had; sell drugs or join the Army. Understanding that nobody retires from the Drug Game and believing that retiring to the streets would be a poor way to repay his parents for the sacrifices they made while raising him, J. Clemonts, Jr. enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17. The life he has led since then has allowed him to leave the hood, climb out of poverty, and thrive as a black man in society.
J. Clemonts, Jr. truly believes that he and his family is blessed.
The Clemonts Family Foundation Inc., believes that by investing in the neighborhoods and communities where they lives, these communities will also be blessed. "Reach back and pull someone ahead" is the motto by which he created the CFF, a nonprofit foundation that focus on scholastic achievements, cultural awareness, and community investment, and portraying a positive image of the black and brown communities. We are strong, We are intelligent, We are talented, and when we come together, there is nothing that we cannot do.
Since 2016, The Clemonts Family Foundation have supported our community members in a variety of ways and measuring our success not by monetary size, but by more qualitative measurements such as the scale and effectiveness of our efforts.
